WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY?
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Buffalo Grove, IL (northwest suburb of Chicago).
DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
I'm an on-location photographer, however, natural light studios are available upon request for an additional fee.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
All of the time! Travel fees are applied to locations that are 20+ miles outside of the 60089 area code.
Non-edited/original images will not be provided. This approach is in-line with my personal philosophy, as well as the industry's standard.
CAN I PURCHASE UNEDITED IMAGES?
I take pride in keeping everything in-house, including my post processing.
DO YOU OUTSOURCE ANY OF YOUR WORK?
For documentary sessions, you are welcome to wear what you normally would for every day life. For those who have portraits planned or would like styling assistance regardless of the session, I am happy to work 1:1 with you.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR DURING OUR SESSION?
I REALLY WANT AN IN-HOME SESSION, HOWEVER, MY HOUSE IS FAR FROM PERFECT. WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
Absolutely nothing! Documentary photography tells the story of your REAL life, and that includes your house as it is today. I love all of those details because they are authentic and they are part of your story.
WILL YOU TALK TO US/INTERACT WITH US WHILE YOU'RE SHOOTING OUR DOCUMENTARY SESSION?
No matter the type of session, I talk! A LOT! Yes! Personally, I would feel quite awkward if I was a silent fly on the wall and chances are you would too… More than likely there will be portions of your session when you won't even realize that I'm shooting because we're in the middle of a conversation. I am there to observe and capture, but I won’t do it without speaking (unless requested!). I want you to feel as relaxed as possible, fully realizing that it can be a bit intimidating and overwhelming to have a new person come into your home to photograph your family. I make it a priority to ensure that everyone is comfortable. Even those that are on the shy side warm up fairly quickly, including children. I will do periodic "check ins" with you to confirm that all is well. Many clients tell me at the end of their sessions how surprised they were that it was so easy for them. All you literally have to be, is you.
Let's jump on the phone and talk through them. I welcome questions with open arms as I view them as a chance to educate and learn more about my clients’ needs and wants.
