Q: WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY?
A. Please see here.
Q: WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
A. Buffalo Grove, IL (Lake County), which is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
A. I'm an on-location photographer only.
Q: DO YOU TRAVEL?
A. Absolutely! Travel fees are applied to locations that are 20+ miles outside of the 60089 area code.
Q. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR PRODUCTS?
A. Please contact me for a complete pricing guide. Events are all-inclusive.
Q. CAN WE PURCHASE UNEDITED IMAGES?
A. Non-edited/original images will not be given under any circumstance. This approach is in-line with my personal philosophy, as well as the industry's standard.
Q. DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
A. Yes, financing is available. I view custom photography as an investment in your family and your memories.
Q. DO YOU OUTSOURCE ANY OF YOUR WORK?
A. No. I take pride in keeping everything in-house, including my post processing. I'm the only person who will touch your images every step of the way.
Q. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR DURING OUR SESSION?
A. Unless you've booked a portrait session, please wear what you would wear for every day life. For those that have portraits planned, I will work with you 1:1 to discuss outfits.
Q. I REALLY WANT AN IN-HOME SESSION, HOWEVER, MY HOUSE IS FAR FROM PERFECT. WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
A. Nothing! Documentary photography tells the story of your REAL life, and that includes your house as it is today. Perfection is completely overrated. It's actually all of those little imperfections that we want to grab during your storytelling session. That might sound a bit backwards, but poor lighting, messy houses, mismatched clothes, tangled hair, messy faces, etc. Bring it! I love all of those details because they are authentic and they are your story. Life isn't a model home with a model family. Life is unique, interesting, and keeps us on our toes.
Q. DO YOU TALK TO US/INTERACT WITH US WHILE YOU'RE SHOOTING?
A. Oh goodness, yes! I imagine it would be extremely awkward for all involved if I didn't! I'm quite the chatterbox, actually... Chances are that there will be some portions of your session where you won't even realize that I'm shooting because we're in the middle of a conversation. I am there to observe and capture, but I don't do it in silence (unless requested!). I want you to feel as relaxed and at ease as possible, fully realizing that it can be a bit intimidating and overwhelming to have a new person come into your home to photograph your family. I make it a priority to ensure that everyone is comfortable. Even those that are on the shy side warm up fairly quickly, including children! I will do periodic "check ins" with you to confirm if all is well (note: I've never had someone say no, but I will always ask). We'll talk, joke, and laugh... A LOT. Many clients tell me at the end of their sessions how surprised they were that it was so easy for them.
Q. WHAT IF I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
A. Let's jump on the phone and talk through them. I'll do my best to address anything you're wondering about.
