Ying and Yang
Ashlyn and Elle. These girls go WAY back. Well, way back when you're a 4th grader... Ash and Elle have been good pals since their pre-kindergarten days. The friendship has always come very easily for them. Never forced. They've just clicked from the beginning. It's a relationship that is extremely Ying and Yang. Ash, the vocal and outgoing one, and Elle, on the more quiet and introverted side of the house. Elle's mom, Karin, and I have discussed for years how well they balance each other, and the sentiment still holds true and strong. A real "opposites attract" situation. Though they have changed in many ways since those early times, the beauty is that at their cores, they are still the same little kids that our families have come to know and adore. There's comfort in that.
We don't see Elle enough, especially since we moved over a year ago. Logistics make it trickier for the two to get together on a consistent basis. That being said, when they do reunite, it's as if no time has passed. Do you have that friend that you can go weeks/months/years without seeing, and then when you do, you're able to just pick right back up where you left off? Yup, these two have that connection. Always have, and probably always will.
We had the pleasure of having Elle stay overnight last night with us. I was busy getting Little Brother sorted out for his own sleepover, so didn't grab the big camera until this morning. All I needed was 10 minutes, lots of energy (though you'd think they be acting a bit more sleep deprived!), and HUNDREDS of giggles to document what you see here.
This is happiness. This is friendship. This is love.
