Jiggin' Downtown

Dani and Isaac are not only dear friends to my two children, but they’re also competitive Irish dancers with Hogan Irish Dance Academy in Arlington Heights.. Training on almost a daily basis, they work hard AND play hard. Knowing essentially nothing about this type of dance genre until I met the E Family, I’ve now gained an appreciation for just how much goes into their preparation.

Their mom, Laura, asked me to capture the kids’ passion for this beautiful art, and so the four of us strolled (or danced) around downtown AH on a sunny October afternoon. After watching their commitment and talent, it’s easy to see why they continue to place so high over and over again.

Here's To You, Sweet 11.

Our oldest, Ashlyn Rose, turned matching digits at the end of October. My tween is quickly becoming a beautiful and independent young woman, yet in many ways she is still your typical kid.

Though it’s documentary that speaks to me the most, there is something fun and refreshing about portraits. I grabbed my Nikon and within less than 10 minutes, I snatched what you see below. Our yellow lab, Apollo, then decided to not only photobomb, but to also model for me as well. Such a ham, that boy…

Happy birthday to you, sweet A-Ro. We love you more than words will ever be able to express.

xoxo,

Mom
